County Wicklow, also known as the Garden of Ireland, is a stunningly beautiful part of Ireland that is definitely worth a visit. With its lush green landscapes, rugged mountains, and serene beaches, it’s no wonder that it draws so many visitors every year. As a solo traveler, I was excited to explore this part of Ireland, and I have to say that it did not disappoint. In this blog post, I will be sharing my experience of solo travel in County Wicklow, including my visit to the Wicklow Mountains National Park.
The Wicklow Mountains National Park is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to County Wicklow. I was excited to explore the park, and I wasn’t disappointed. The park offers a variety of activities such as hiking, biking, camping, fishing, horseback riding, and more. Whether you’re an outdoors enthusiast or just looking for a place to unwind and relax, the park has something for everyone.
As I made my way through the park, I was struck by the stunning scenery that surrounded me. The roads opened up as I drove, revealing the stunning Glemalure Valley below me like a patchwork quilt blanketing the earth. Tiny villages were nestled in small clusters in the distance, and Fraughan Rock Glen could barely be seen through the heavy rain clouds that lay low in front of the Irish mist.
From high up on the hills, I could see for miles around – lush green fields dotted with sheep, ancient stone walls snaking through them like pathways from another time; and further away still, rolling hills fading into the horizon. It was truly awe-inspiring!
One of the highlights of my visit to the Wicklow Mountains National Park was my visit to Glendalough, an ancient monastic settlement nestled deep within a valley surrounded by mountains. Here I found peace and tranquility amongst nature’s beauty – a perfect way to end my second morning exploring County Wicklow!
Aside from the Wicklow Mountains National Park, County Wicklow has many other attractions that are worth a visit. Visitors can explore the historic sites such as Glendalough Village and Lugnaquilla Mountain. Not to mention, the county is also home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Ireland, such as the Greystones Beach and Bray Strand.
In conclusion, County Wicklow is a beautiful part of Ireland that is definitely worth a visit. As a solo traveler, I found it to be the perfect destination to unwind, explore, and connect with nature. The Wicklow Mountains National Park is a must-visit destination, offering a range of activities and stunning scenery. I highly recommend exploring the park, visiting Glendalough, and checking out the historic sites and beaches in the county. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed! Happy travels!!!!xoxo
